Bricks

North Magnolia Avenue has been a main business street in our town for as long as anyone can remember and probably since the town was originally founded 1846. I believe that it has been renamed a few times through the years. Looming over this older section of town is the Marion County Judicial Center. Many of the old buildings have fallen into disuse and recently the city has started to remove them and build new facilities, mostly parking areas to serve the courthouse and several downtown businesses. One such building was the old Pittsburg Paints and Ocala Glass Building. It was from the early 1900’s (or maybe even late 1890’s depending on who you ask). Still privately owned the building was recently demolished because it was cost prohibitive to bring it up to codes. One of my favorite things in that area is the sidewalk that ran in front of the building. It’s old old inlaid brick. Many of the bricks have patterns on them from their molds.  Over the next week or so, I’ll post some pictures of the building as it was but for now here’s my favorite brick.

Ross Prairie Loop Trail

Ross Prairie is a lovely wilderness area near where I live. It’s a great place for a nice short hike and is loaded with great photo opportunities. The trails pass through pine forest, oak hammocks and areas of the prairie with beautiful golden grasses that sway rhythmically in the wind. One of my favorite places to spend a few hours of peace and solitude.

Nikon F2A

So as I said, I’m a Nikon junkie. I have quite a few and enjoy them thoroughly. This camera is one that I purchased around Thanksgiving of 2012. It’s in beautiful condition and functions perfectly. It’s a bit on the heavy side for many folks but I find the weight beneficial. I can handhold the camera at speeds like 1/30 second and get solid blur free images even with a 135mm lens.

Nikon EM

I’m sort of an EBay junkie and definitely a Nikon film camera junkie. So when I saw this really neat camera on ebay at an absolute steal of a price, I couldn’t resist. The camera came in the mail this past week and it’s in outstanding condition. A bit of dirt and so needs some cleaning but body and functions appear like new.  So I want to welcome Nikon EM #3 to my camera family.
